A child daycare owner called me in a panic because the state of Arizona had changed the insurance requirements and were threatening to pull her license. Her livelyhood was at stake and she could not find a carrier that would meet the State’s requirements. This can be a stressful situation, and we understand. In case you do not know the requirements as of 08/2016 they are as follows:
Commercial General Liability requirements for a child daycare in Arizona are:
- $1,000,000 Each Occurrence
- $2,000,000 General Aggregate
- $1,000,000 Personal & Advertising Injury
- $1,000,000 Products/Completed Operations Aggregate
- $50,000 of Damage to Rented Premises
Another important requirement is Sexual Abuse and Molestation coverage. Arizona recently increased the required limit for Sexual Abuse and Molestation coverage to $500,000. Also, any Certificate of Liability issued to Arizona must have the following statement written in the comments section, “Sexual Abuse/Molestation coverage is included.”
Finally, the State of Arizona wants to be listed as an additional insured. Make sure to ask your agent for this, because it is often not automatically included.
Certificate Holder should be:
Arizona Department of Economic Security
Child Care Administration
Contract Unit 944C
PO Box 6123
Phoenix, AZ 85005
